Development Snapshot - Ghana Comment 2
I have also noticed that the initial information that is captured on the lodgement of an application is INADEQUATE. Where will the details of a transaction such as the date, the parties, interest, consideration etc. be captured?
Dates, application number etc are generally auto-generated and saved with the application. Parties, interest, consideration etc are captured at the back office as part of the preparation of the draft register for approval and not at the lodgement stage. Again, it seems appropriate that the applicant states the interest in the land that he is claiming ownership. After all, his application is a claim of a particular title to the land and he must state that claim in clear terms in his application. The addition of services into the application is an indication of the particular right, restriction or responsibility or bundle of these RRRs (interests) the applicant is claiming ownership. Even though the details of such claims are not given on the application form, they can be inferred from the scanned image of the primary document that is attached to the application.
